Analysing bat sensor data for the ICC Champions Trophy

Details of an exciting new partnership between CricViz and Intel.

The Champions Trophy gets underway today at The Oval (CricViz’s home, coincidentally), and one of the exciting new aspects of the tournament is a bat sensor (more on that here), developed by Intel.

As the official analytics supplier for the tournament, we’ve been working with Intel on developing the technology for use on broadcast; it’s been a fun, interesting project to be involved in at such an early stage, and we’re excited by the potential of the sensor. A brief outline of what you can expect is below. We’ll be including more and more data from the sensor, aggregated across all our datasources, on our app’s live blog, so download and keep an eye on it throughout the tournament.

We’re looking forward to seeing whether we can prove or disprove a few cricketing adages, too.
