CricViz are delighted to announce an analytics partnership with the Pretoria Capitals in the inaugural SA20 League. The Capitals are one of six teams in the new T20 tournament, being played in South Africa, in early 2023.
Senior analyst Ben Jones has provided the Capitals with support from the retention stage onwards, alongside CricViz’s data science team headed by James Norton-Brown. Onsite in South Africa for both the planning stage and on the auction table itself, Jones worked with the experienced and talented recruitment team already in place at the franchise. With assistance from CricViz’s data, models, and analytical expertise, the Capitals’ team have built a strong, balanced playing squad, with a core of excellent domestic talent supported by a group of high quality overseas stars.

Rilee Rossouw, one of South Africa’s finest batting talents, offers both power and stability at the top of the order, while the experienced Wayne Parnell provides balance with both his batting and bowling quality. Theunis de Bruyn, Cameron Delport, and Marco Marais all bring boundary-hitting skill and flexibility to the XI, with varied and complementary skillsets, while Daryn Dupavillon brings yet more pace and wicket-taking threat to the attack.

The side will also feature Phil Salt and Will Jacks, two young English batters who rank among the most explosive players in the tournament. They are joined by compatriot Adil Rashid, England’s leading white ball spinner and a versatile, exceptional performer. All-rounder Jimmy Neesham provides batting power down the order, as well as valuable left-handed balance, while Irishman Josh Little brings high-pace and new ball wicket-taking threat.
